Woman pulls alligator from yoga trousers during traffic stop: Florida police

An officer in Charlotte County on Florida's western coast pulled the unidentified woman over and confiscated 41 three-stripe turtles from her auto on Monday.

Sheriff's officials say a Florida woman pulled a small alligator from her yoga trousers during a traffic stop.

It turns out the woman also had 41 three-striped mud turtles in her vehicle.

A deputy gave the driver a warning for running the stop sign and asked to see the animals they collected to ensure they didn't have anything they weren't supposed to have.

Michael Clemons, 22, and Ariel Machan-Le Quire, 25, were stopped in Punta Gorda and told officers they had been out hunting for snakes and frogs under an overpass. She also had 41 3-stripe turtles in the auto. To which she replied by retrieving the scaly critter from her pants - because this is Florida.

NBC Miami called the incident an "only in Florida" moment.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is now investigating.

Charlotte Country Sheriff's office saw the amusing side of the odd situation, sharing a hilarious post to Facebook.

The turtles and American alligator are regulated so the driver and his gal pal were cited for having them.

A spokesperson for the state agency did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment Tuesday morning.
