Netflix has said it will not be included in Apple's channels, which means programming on Netflix will appear in search results but viewers will need to exit the Apple TV app.

The new app carries together several new functionalities including the integration of cable and satellite channels.

Users can access more than 100,000 TV shows and movies through iTunes, the company says, and directly sign up for popular video services ("channels"). So, if you're new to the Apple TV, or you own a smart TV with the Apple TV app installed such as newer models from Samsung, all you have to do is use the TV app.

The redesigned Apple TV app now features a Channels tab, where users can find their favorite content from various networks and streaming services, as well as a curated section, where content will be surfaced on a per-user basis, depending on interests.

The TV app gives users access to all their existing iTunes content, as well as all the ability to buy and rent all the movies and TV shows now in the catalog.

The US technology firm has just announced that its latest update is available now on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV devices.

If Apple TV is available in your country, and you own a Samsung smart TV model from the a year ago, keep an eye out for the firmware update. With this the supported Apple TVs will also be getting AirPlay 2 support, which consumers can use to stream content to AirPlay 2 compatible Samsung Smart TVs.

Apple today officially launched its Amazon Channels competitor that offers a single platform for subscription services from HBO, Showtime and more.

In addition to AirPlay 2 support on Samsung TVs, iOS 12.3 also makes it so that you can AirPlay content from Siri Suggestions (though we've never seen a Siri Suggestion for movies or TV shows).

But more importantly, users will now be able to watch and download their shows and movies both online and offline, allowing them to watch their favourite programs anywhere and at any time. Select Samsung smart TVs also get AirPlay 2 support from today.
