Once you see "Play Snake" option, just tap on Play and the game will start.

As part of a celebration for April Fool's Day, the software lets the user choose a particular part of the world they want as an overlay for the game.

The addition allowed users to play Snake in famed cities across the world and would be available for the week to come for anyone looking to play.

Discussing the new feature, Google said: "Google Maps shows you how to get around on foot, car, train and bicycle, and now, you can ssslither to your destination too".

The classic Snake game that made its debut on Nokia phones back in 2007 and achieved popularity not long after, is now available to all Google Map users.

The app got a new S-themed overflow menu that has a red dot to highlight the experience in the navigation drawer.

For a limited time only Google has brought the classic 80s game Snake to Google Maps on Android and iOS. This includes an AR version and many gaming app variants.

To play, you just swipe the four cardinal directions to stimulate the D-pad to move your train/bus/subway/streetcar/double-decker around the map to pick passengers up and to control its growth.

Once you're inside the easter egg, you can select between different cities you'd like to play on, including Cairo, London, San Francisco, São Paulo, Sydney, and Tokyo. The objective is to pick up as many passengers as possible with the Snake train.
