New York Giants: How the Ryan Tannehill trade shockingly impacts the Giants

General manager Jon Robinson remedied that issue Friday, bringing longtime Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill aboard.

The Titans restructured Tannehill's contract into a deal that will pay him $7 million fully guaranteed with a chance to make up to $12 million in incentives for the 2019 season, a source told ESPN. The 2012 first-round pick was traded to the Tennessee Titans on Friday, along with a sixth-round choice in the upcoming National Football League draft, in exchange for a 2020 fourth-rounder and 2019 seventh-rounder. Tennessee will get a sixth round pick in 2019 along with the veteran QB.

Tannehill is expected to replace Blaine Gabbert as the backup to Tennessee's Marcus Mariota.

In his career, Hekker has completed 11 of 19 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.

Tannehill played collegiately at Texas A&M, where he threw for 5,450 yards and 42 touchdowns in 50 games, with 25 starts. He missed the 2017 season with a knee injury. He's also playing on a fifth-year option worth $20.9 million and he's set to be a free agent after the season.

He was the first quarterback taken in the top round since Dan Marino. You could argue that he and Tannehill are incredibly similar - both are athletic, accurate quarterbacks and their playing style feels similar.

Mariota, 25, hasn't played a full 16-game season in his career.
