San Francisco Giants expected to meet with Bryce Harper this week

"Wherever he wants to play, wherever he wants to play - we'll make it work", the two-time All-Star outfielder proclaimed Tuesday.

Harper has generated plenty of interest this offseason, but this is the first time San Francisco has been linked to the 26-year-old. The Padres reportedly met with Harper in Las Vegas last week, and they have baseball's best farm system and a lot of money to spend.

"Any time you can add an MVP to a team, it's going to make them better", Judge said.

Bryce Harper #34 of the Washington Nationals reacts after hitting a single in the seventh inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers during game five of the National League Division Series at Nationals Park on October 13, 2016 in Washington, DC.

"(Harper has) got more speed than me, man", Judge told TMZ Sports.

Meeting with a team coming off two miserable seasons and seemingly nearing a tankathon spells desperation on Harper's part, as his and Manny Machado's free agency nightmares drag on into spring training. Harper and Machado seem likely to sign for less than expected at the start of the winter, which could have teams re-considering whether to try to jump back into the fray. While the deal will drain the Phillies farm system, the team still has deep pockets and it won't change the pursuits of Harper or Machado. "But I would also say we're anticipating we have a great team right now and feel like we have a complete team that's ready to go compete for a championship". While his exact contract demands remain unknown, it is widely believed he is looking for something in the neighbourhood of Giancarlo Stanton's 13-year, $325 million deal signed with the Miami Marlins in 2014.

This past week, the hype surrounding Harper reached a tipping point when the popular video game "MLB The Show" released a tweet on Monday saying, "You'll want to keep an eye on this account tomorrow ... just saying".
