Reports of plane down in Yorba Linda, catching homes on fire

A small aircraft crashed into the backyard of a home near Anaheim Sunday, killing at least two people and leaving three others wounded, authorities said.

Yorba Linda is about 33 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

It is still unclear whether or not the pilot is one of the deceased.

Firefighters suppress a fire at the scene of a deadly plane crash in the residential neighborhood of Yorba Linda, California, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.

Twitter user Joshua Nelson wrote, "A few houses down [from the crash] the propeller and engine landed in their yard".

The crash occurred in Yorba Linda, the Orange County Fire Authority said on Twitter.

An investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board is ongoing.

A small plane crashed in a residential California neighborhood on Sunday and set a single family home ablaze, officials said.

Clint Langford, another neighbor, recalled hearing a low rumbling sound right before the crash. "It was scary", he said. "I thought a bomb was dropped or something cuz I heard a plane engine moving in close and then my house shook on impact".

Those killed in the home were described as two males and two females, the Orange Country Sheriff's Department said.

Panicked neighbours rushed to the burning home, dousing burning debris on the street with water from garden hoses. The fire spread to a SUV that was parked in the driveway. They planned to search the burned house in case there were additional victims, Mr Sanchez said.
