"I feel so blessed to be able to be coming now, just in support of so many wonderful people that are honored - especially so many women that are honored - and are going be celebrated that night", Keys told Entertainment Tonight of her opportunity to host. Female voices represent the majority in two of the top categories.

Cardi B, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, made her Grammy stage debut in 2018, performing alongside Bruno Mars for his single Finesse. That's how I felt, I mean, you know I still feel that way. This draws comparisons to last year's ceremony with Ed Sheeran being snubbed despite the success of his global hit "Shape of You".

"A dynamic artist with the rare combination of groundbreaking talent and passion for her craft, Alicia Keys is the flawless choice as host for our show", said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy.

The biggest pull out at the moment is 'thank u, next' singer Ariana Grande, who was slated to perform until Grammys producer Ken Erlich said that it was too late for Grande to pull a set together and cancelled the performance. To think that just a few years ago, she was an Instagram-sensation-turned-reality star, and is now a Grammy award nominee is mind-blowing.

Ready for this? Keys has won a grand total of 15 Grammys over the course of her career so far! The video shows her breaking the news to her family, including her husband Swizz Beatz, a Grammy victor in his own right, whom she appears to have awakened.

The annual Grammy Awards has always been the most talked about night in the music industry; and for good reason. Music's Biggest Night® will also feature the incredible talents of current multi-GRAMMY nominee Brandi Carlile, past GRAMMY nominee Miley Cyrus, and current multi-GRAMMY nominee H.E.R.

Leading this year's awards is Kendrick Lamar with a total of eight nominations thanks to his work on the Black Panther soundtrack.

The recently confirmed additional performers include Lady Gaga, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson, a collaboration between Dua Lipa and St Vincent, Chloe x Halle, and a tribute to the late Aretha Franklin from Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and Andra Day.
