Unai Emery: Arsenal can only make loan signings in January

The Gunners boss has conceded that he has no transfer kitty to work with in the January window, with the club only able to bring in loans.

Speaking the reporters ahead of Saturday's trip to West Ham, Emery said: "I don't know about his situation".

"We can't sign with payment for one player", Emery said at a news conference on Thursday. Nearly all of those crocked centre-backs and full-backs are near ready for a return to first team action and they better be because this West Ham side can play.

He said: "We can not sign permanently".

He added: "The club is working, telling me each moment different situations can happen. Everyone is still trying to get used to it but it is going well at the moment". "We can use the players in the match on Saturday after a week of rest".

Another of Emery's former players, Sevilla's Ever Banega, has also been linked with a move to the Emirates.

In their FA Cup third-round tie against Blackpool, Arsenal coach Unai Emery gave a number of exciting young players the opportunity to strut their stuff.

"We can only loan players". Every day he's here with us, he's working very well.

Mesut Ozil's mysterious absence from the Arsenal squad continues today with the German failing to make the Gunners' 18-man squad for their London derby against West Ham. Ozil has not played for Arsenal since picking up a knee injury in the' 1-1 draw at Brighton on Boxing Day. Shkodran Mustafi and Konstantinos Mavropanos are all back in full training and under consideration for the weekend. Also, we are giving chances to the young players and finding with them the regularity to be consistent when we need them to be.
