Arsenal linked with Juventus defender as part of Ramsey deal

Arsenal may sanction an early departure for the Welshman, should they be able to sign Morocco worldwide Mehdi Benatia from the Italian champions, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy.

Juventus are confident of finalising a deal to sign Aaron Ramsey this summer and have offered him a €7 million (£6.3m/$8m) per year contract, Goal understands. "But I am very proud of his commitment and how he helped the team today".

However, it has now emerged that Juventus have won that race, with the 27-year-old expected to complete his move to Italy at the end of the season. The trio chose to withdraw the offer of a new deal to Ramsey in September although the head coach was sounded out about the move.

Given Ramsey's situation, the Gunners could be forgiven for moving the player on in the January window rather than losing him for free in the summer, but Arsenal boss Emery does not expect the Welshman to depart before the end of the 2018-19 season.

Travelling fans watching Arsenal against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday chanted "Aaron Ramsey we want you to stay" throughout the clash.

That is a question numerous Arsenal are asking, and they made their concerns known by chanting Ramsey's name during the Blackpool game.

"He [Ramsey] is an excellent player, he has been playing at a high level for many years and plays for a great team".

And ESPN claim Emery was the one who pulled the plug on Ramsey's contract due to him not fitting into his future plans.

However, Emery wants to keep Ramsey especially as there are fears that Juve won't allow Khedira to move this month. "Now, he is still an Arsenal player and we are certainly not the only ones interested".
