Who is Floyd Mayweather Jr’s opponent Tenshin Nasukawa?

Appearing at a press conference for Rizin Fighting Federation, Japan's premier MMA and kickboxing promotion and heir apparent to PRIDE, Mayweather is set to take on 20-year old kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve.

Mayweather is widely regarded as the greatest boxer of his generation but seemingly retired after taking his flawless professional record to 50-0 by defeating UFC star Conor McGregor in August previous year.

The 41-year-old Mayweather is 50-0 in his boxing career but has never fought professionally under MMA rules.

"We've been making some huge fights happen in the United States, but we look forward to taking the Mayweather Promotions banner and the TMT banner worldwide".

His opponent, Nasukawa, is unbeaten as a kickboxer and in MMA, going a combined 31-0.

That includes a victory over former UFC star Kyoji Horiguchi last time out in a kickboxing bout at Rizin FF 13, which he convincingly won by unanimous decision, handing horiguchi his first loss since a submission defeat against Demetrious Johnson in the Octagon back in 2015 (albeit in MMA rather than kickboxing).

"He's going to bring a lot of excitement, I'm going to bring a lot of excitement and that's what the people want to see". Nobody has defeated my opponent in the past.

"It's the biggest moment in my life and I want to be the man who changes history".

While the fight was made official for Rizin 14 at the Super Saitama Arena, the rules and regulations for the bout have not been announced.

Floyd Mayweather Jr will face Tenshin Nasukawa in an intriguing clash this December.

"I think my shortest answer to that is the fact that now we are aligned to achieve something together and that is hitting a new challenge, taking a step forward to whatever wonderful thing that we can create together", Rizin promoter Nobuyaki Sakakibara said.
