How Calipari compared Duke and Kentucky after Tuesday's 118-84 blowout suggested that effort could compensate for something United Kingdom lacks in great abundance.

What a start for RJ Barrett.

Furthermore, a third Duke freshman, Cam Reddish, came up just four points shy of becoming the third to top Bagley's previous debut record.

"Stopping the bleeding. They don't know yet what that means", Calipari said.

"I'm really proud of my guys", he said.

No team has ever scored more points against John Calipari-coached Kentucky team.

Coach Bill Self isn't sure what to be expect when top-ranked Kansas steps on the floor for its first regular-season game of the season against No. 10 Michigan State on Tuesday night in the Champions Classic.

When Duke cruises to an undefeated national championship win, we'll all have Duke basketball alum Tyus Jones to thank. Still, the overall takeaway is that virtually everyone is talking about what Duke did on Tuesday, and much of that chatter is framed through the prism of the kind of all-world prospect that Zion Williamson is at this stage.

Typically, a team that is considered well-measured and balanced is seen as such because it has an appropriate level of talent at every position.

But the Wildcats also return sophomores PJ Washington, Nick Richards and Quade Green and added grad transfer Reid Travis, a two-time All-Pac 12 performer at Stanford.

The highly-anticipated game between two of the nation's most successful college programs was never close. The first game of the Champions Classic is No. 10 Michigan State versus No. 1 Kansas, but we'll focus on the second game - No. 4 Duke versus No. 2 Kentucky.

But Duke closed the half getting easy baskets from Barrett, off a pass from Jones, and Bolden, off a pass from Barrett, to lead 59-42 at intermission. The Blue Devils won by 34 points, but it felt like a million. That allowed Kentucky to climb back as close as 12 points.

And the feeling I have seeing this Duke team turn Kentucky into early season mid-major fodder is no different then the feeling I had after watching that Kentucky team turn that Kansas team into a group of middle schoolers running offense for the first time: How in the hell is anyone going to beat Duke?

"I don't want to make this bigger than it is for those guys or for me".

Before we get to Dahntay's words.

Duke's dominance of Kentucky also added another chapter to Krzyzewski's recent stronghold on the one-and-done talent pool.

Duke was able to limit turnovers, as the Blue Devils had a significant turnover margin.

Jerome made six 3-pointers for the Cavaliers, who were playing for the first time since they made history by becoming the first No. 1 seed to lose to a 16-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Kentucky: Tyler Herro was the only other player to reach double figures. He finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

While the game was expected to be tightly-contested, the Blue Devils ran away with a dominating 118-84 win. They combined for 83 points on the night, nearly outscoring the Wildcats' entire roster.

He went 0-3 from the 3-point line against the Pelicans and has so far seemed to regress as an outside shooter, his 28 percent from 3-point range through 10 games being one of the worst marks of his career.
