PITTSBURGH - All 11 victims of the synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh have been identified and their families notified, authorities said Sunday.

Rose Mallinger was visiting the Tree of Life synagogue when the attacker, named by the authorities as Robert Bowers, 46, a declared antisemite, burst in and opened fire with three Glock handguns and an AR-15 semi-automatic assault rifle. The victims included a married couple - 84 and 86 - as well as 54- and 59-year-old brothers.

'These three men, they can not be replaced, ' said Perlman, his voice breaking.

Bowers surrendered and was taken to a hospital where he was listed in fair condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

US President Donald Trump on Saturday said the outcome might have been different if the synagogue "had some kind of protection" from an armed guard, while Pennsylvania's Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf, up for re-election, noted that once again "dangerous weapons are putting our citizens in harm's way".

Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman quoted Merkel on Twitter as offering her condolences and saying that "all of us must confront anti-Semitism with determination - everywhere".

Rev. John Gibbons, senior minister of First Parish in Bedford, said he was at the family's Bedford home when Bill, his wife Christine Rabinowitz, and his mother Sally Rabinowitz learned what had happened.

They were both shot dead as were brothers Cecil and David Rosenthal who were both killed in the Tree of Life congregation.

Federal prosecutors charged Bowers late on Saturday with 29 criminal counts including violating USA civil rights laws.

The police affidavit says calls began coming in to 911 just before 10 a.m. Saturday, reporting "they were being attacked".

A crowdfunding campaign formed by two Muslim groups has raised more than $100,000 for the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, which killed 11, the Times of Israelreported.

Chicago police did not receive any threats to the city or the vigil, but officers and K9s were deployed to the vigil to ensure a visible presence, officials said.

Federal prosecutors charged him with 29 criminal counts including 11 counts of use of a firearm to commit murder during and in relation to a crime of violence.
