Huawei Mate 20X Is Here: Meet The 7.2-Inch Monster Gaming Phone

According to previous reports, both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will sport an L-shaped triple camera setup on the back. The Mate 20 Pro on another hand comes with only one memory and storage options which is 6GB and 128GB respectively for European Union 1049 (~RM 5044).

Huawei also announced a new wearable during the launch, the Huawei Watch GT.

The Porsche Design variant is essentially the Mate 20 Pro on steroids, aimed at the rich and ostentatious.

The display on this Mate 20 X is 7.2-inches diagonally with a single teardrop-style notch.

The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are also the first Huawei devices to ship with Android 9 Pie, overlaid with its EMUI skin, with a simpler interface and gesture navigation.

The Mate 20 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a 40-megapixel primary sensor with wide-angle lens (f/1.8), a 20-megapixel sensor with ultra wide angle lens (f/2.2), and the third is an 8-megapixel sensor with telephoto lens for 3X optical zoom and portrait mode. For example, Huawei has adopted curved edges design for the Mate 20 Pro but not on the standard Mate 20 model.

The Mate 20 comes with a 6.53-inch LCD screen, whereas the Mate 20 Pro has a slightly smaller but higher-resolution 6.39-inch Oled display. All of this is contained within a smartphone that'll be released in Midnight Blue and Phantom Silver.

AI predictably remains a focus for Huawei, with its technology bettered and expanded, as is the Mate series' use as a camera.

Huawei Mate 20 X is priced at Euro 899 and will be available in only one variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage from October 26 in select European markets. The Mate 20 packs a 4,000 mAh battery while the Mate 20 Pro has a 4,200 mAh battery. With the Kirin 980, Huawei promises faster speeds, better power efficiency, and more powerful AI integration. On the front, there's a 24-megapixel sensor on the Mate 20 Pro alongside the components that enable 3D Face Unlock, 3D Live Emoji, and 3D object scanning. Place a Qi-compatible smartphone in direct contact with the Mate 20 Pro to charge this phone using the Mate 20 Pro's huge 4,200mAh battery. It comes with support for the "world's first wireless reverse charging" technology on a smartphone, which means it can wirelessly charge.

That gaming aspect is a big focus for the phone, with Huawei also selling a new gaming accessory to go alongside it and even comparing it side by side with the Nintendo Switch onstage.
