Grading the Demaryius Thomas trade; remembering his career in Denver

Denver's Demaryius Thomas was the first name mentioned (by Mike Girardi) as a potential name to watch for the Pats, but he's since been traded to the Texans, while Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero added Lions wideout Golden Tate to the list of names the Patriots could be eyeing.

However, Thomas ended up with the Houston Texans at the trade deadline, according to multiple reports.

Another reason for fans to be okay about Thomas going to New England?

Thomas was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. "But where we can make it up is with the youth, the young guys and getting them experience as this year continues to go". Thomas, who is also a two-time Associated Press All-Pro selection (2013-14), finishes his Broncos career as the franchise's leader in 100-yard receiving games (33) while ranking second in team history in receiving touchdowns, second in receiving yards and third in receptions. With a 3-5 record and a number of teams calling on Thomas' availability, however, it will be hard for the Broncos to avoid trading him considering almost $20 million would come off the books. So far this season Tate has caught 44 passes for 517 yards and three touchdowns for the 3-4 Lions. The Broncos don't play the Patriots this year.

Thomas would be an instant hit for the Patriots and at no expense to the Broncos other than watching one of their beloved players excel in a better situation.

You know who doesn't believe the latter rumor? The trade is contingent upon Thomas passing a physical on Wednesday.
